Bueno

James Bueno

Head Coach

James Bueno has served as the Head Coach of Cal Poly Women's Club Volleyball since 2021, guiding the program to national prominence and establishing it as one of the premier collegiate club volleyball programs in the country. Since taking over the program, the Mustangs have consistently been ranked among the Top 10 collegiate club volleyball teams in the nation, earning recognition for their competitive success, player development, and championship culture.

During the 2025-26 season, Cal Poly entered the NCVF National Championships ranked No. 1 in the nation following an outstanding regular season. The team advanced to the NCVF Division I Gold Bracket, further cementing its reputation as one of the nation's elite collegiate club volleyball programs.

With more than 20 years of coaching experience, James has built successful programs at the high school, club, and collegiate levels. In addition to leading Cal Poly, he is the Founder and Executive Director of Flight Academy Volleyball, one of California's fastest-growing junior volleyball clubs, where he has helped develop hundreds of athletes while fostering a culture built on character, accountability, and competitive excellence.

James believes the most successful teams are built on trust, discipline, and servant leadership. His coaching philosophy emphasizes developing complete student-athletes who compete with confidence, support one another, and represent Cal Poly with pride. His goal is to create an environment where players are challenged to reach their highest potential while building lifelong friendships and unforgettable collegiate experiences.

GREEN TEAM

Dustin

Dustin Astrosky

Head Coach

Dustin Astrosky will join Cal Poly Women’s Club Volleyball as the new head coach of the Green Team for the upcoming season. After assisting the Cal Poly Men’s Club Volleyball team during the 2025–2026 season, he is excited for the opportunity to contribute to the women’s program and help its student-athletes continue developing on and off the court.

A Central Coast native and St. Joseph High School alumnus, Dustin began coaching in 2016 and has since worked with boys’ and girls’ programs at the high school and club levels. He previously led the volleyball programs at Santa Maria High School before returning to St. Joseph, where he helped guide the girls’ varsity team to the first CIF championship in school history in 2021.

Dustin has continued developing athletes through Flight Academy Volleyball and the St. Joseph boys’ program. His coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, purposeful training, and measurable growth. In addition to coaching, Dustin is an accomplished basketball and volleyball official with experience at the high school and collegiate levels.

Dustin is excited to begin this new chapter at Cal Poly and looks forward to building strong relationships with his players while helping the Green Team compete, improve, and grow together.
